MILWAUKEE, WI – April 21, 2025 – Nadi Plates (pronounced 'naughty plates'), the family-owned Milwaukee food truck favorite and catering company, was thrilled today to announce its move from Waukesha to Milwaukee’s East Side for its first-ever restaurant concept and expanding culinary operations. The new location at 2238 N Farwell Ave. will begin operating in late May as the central production hub for the company's mobile food trailers, catering business, and newly opened stall at American Family Field, with the flagship restaurant set to open later this year after extensive renovations. This strategic move marks a significant milestone in Nadi Plates' meteoric rise since its 2022 debut, and represents a homecoming for the East Side-based family.
"This business grew out of our home from conversations around our own kitchen table, and we are so excited to bring it back to where it all began," says Nadia Santaniello Bucholtz, the first-generation Italian-American owner and executive chef of Nadi Plates. "With this new space, we’ll not only be closer to our neighbors and our community, but we’ll finally be able to welcome them all to join us at the table to celebrate what we love about Italian cuisine: spending time with people we love around great food, great wine, and even better company.”
The space, currently home to Crossroads Collective Food Hall, will house the company’s catering business, which brings fresh, handmade food to over 50 weddings and private events annually, and was inducted into The Knot’s Best of Weddings Hall of Fame earlier this year. It will also act as the prep kitchen for Nadi Plates’ two food trucks, which can be found at venues like Lion’s Tail Brewing Co. and Sahale Ale Works, this year’s Festa Italiana and PrideFest festivals, and the upcoming Milwaukee Night Markets. Throughout the summer, Nadi Plates also plans to host a series of pop-up events on Ivanhoe Plaza to introduce themselves to the neighborhood during construction.
“We knew we had to find a way to work with Nadia and her family as soon as we met them. These are good people with great food,” says Sheldon Oppermann, CFO and General Counsel of New Land Enterprises. “We’re incredibly fortunate to be a part of their move home to the East Side and the growth of their already successful locally-owned business. We know how important great gathering spaces are for creating vibrancy in a neighborhood, and what Nadia and her family have planned will be that neighborhood place where everyone gathers and feels welcomed.”
The flagship Nadi Plates restaurant, planned for a fall 2025 opening, will blend the company’s scratch-made Italian classics and original recipes, quirky street food staples, and whimsical company culture together to create a sophisticated but comfortable neighborhood gathering spot. Guests can expect innovative Italian small plates, expertly-crafted cocktails and wine pairings, and a commitment to offering delicious plant-based and gluten-free options. A European-style espresso bar and café element is also planned during daytime hours, with lunch catering available to neighboring businesses.
More information on the restaurant renovations and opening will be shared in the weeks ahead. A full list of upcoming food truck events can be found on the Nadi Plates website, and updates will be shared on the brand’s Instagram and Facebook accounts. Nadi Plates is also encouraging patrons to support the vendors at Crossroads Collective during the food hall’s final few weeks and throughout the Milwaukee Film Festival.
